Last November I set a goal to read 52 books in a year. That’s quite a reading list. For those of you scoring at home, that’s one book per week. I’ve got a long way to go to finish, but am pleased that I’ve read all or parts of around 35 books so far. I heard Steven Furtick say one time not to worry about finishing a book, but be more concerned getting something out of it. You may read 10 pages of a book and get the nudge, thought, or idea God intended. BTW, I read his book, Sun Stand Still last year. His new book,Greater: Dream Bigger. Start Smaller. Ignite God’s Vision for Your Life., is available for pre-order now and it’s in my queue. Here’s what else I’m working on this summer on my reading list.
1. Measure of Our Success, The: An Impassioned Plea to Pastors by Shawn Lovejoy
2. Amplified Leadership: 5 practices to establish influence, build people, and impact others for a lifetime by Dan Reiland
3. T4T: A Discipleship Re-Revolution by Steve Smith(not the Panthers WR).
4. Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World by Michael Hyatt-check out his blog and podcast here.
5. The Pastor: A Memoir by Eugene Peterson
6. Evernote: The unofficial guide to capturing everything and getting things done. by Daniel Gold
7. Doing Both: Capturing Today’s Profit and Driving Tomorrow’s Growth by Inder Sidhu
8. Margin: Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives by Richard Swenson
9. The Addicted Brain: Why We Abuse Drugs, Alcohol, and Nicotine (FT Press Science) by Michael Kuhar.
10. Leaders Who Last by Dave Kraft
This only covers what I’ve got on my Kindle and iPad. I’ve a lot more books on the shelf that are waiting to be read. What’s on your summer reading list?

I posted mine a few months ago
http://acts217.blogspot.com/2012/04/after-seminary-reading-list.html. Right now I’m reading ORGANIX by Bob Whitesel and The Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius. I like to balance the old and new.

I’m reading The Story of the Wesleyan Church, and I’ve got a few other books on my radar to pick up, like Soul Shift, some more Mark Batterson books, and the Brennan Manning autobiography that I only recently noticed. Since I’m in seminary, I will certainly be reading TONS of theology and worship related books too.

Heath, I started “The Story of the Wesleyan Church” this morning (after reading and re-reading Dr. Drury’s note-and-autograph, of course) and I’m challenging you to move it to the top of your list asap.

It’s not on the list because I already finished it. Posting my review next week!

Well, I
have What is Corporate Governance in front of me right now, and The Board
Book: An Insider’s Guide for Directors and Trustees and Nonprofit
Stewardship: A Better Way to Lead Your Mission-Based Organization are
right behind these. Not exactly summer beach reading, but since I’m
spending my vacation in Marion, it’s the best I can offer.
