Well, the girls’ birthday is Sunday so we’ve been doing stuff with them everyday this week. Monday we took them to Chuck E. Cheese, Karen has taken them to the park, Thursday we went to the Philly zoo(and bought a membership), and Friday is a tea party. The zoo is a tradition that started on their 2nd birthday at the Greenville zoo which is great is in its own right. Last year, we went to a “zoo” in Wilmington, NC(never thought I’d be living in Wilmington, DE then!) and the Serpentorium which only has poisonous snakes and reptiles. That was awesome! Now, the Philly zoo was alot of fun and we’ll be going back a bunch since we bought a membership and we can take guests with us! The girls loved it. We saw a giant tortoise eating watermelon, a polar bear playing with a ball, pengiuns(although I thought it was too hot for a penguin), a king cobra, and a Jersey cow. Pretty sure that was the cow’s breed and not it’s home state, but I’ll confirm this with my dad. The girls had their first horseback ride, but I thought $5 would get them more than one lap. It was a fun, family day and I’m excited to explore the city even more. We, not on purpose, drove by Drexel University, and the University of Pennsylvania. We capped the day off with a movie, “Dreamer“, and the Astronaut Farmer which had a rocket named Dreamer. Weird. Survivor started tonight and we recorded it for later consumption. I may wait and watch em all at once. Lastly, I want to thank Matt Rhodes who has helped me figure out how to put pictures on this blog. Be praying for Matt and his wife, Deborah. They’re moving from Central, SC to Indianapolis, IN to work at Wesleyan HQ. I am excited for them and probably wouldn’t be as happy for them if I were still working in South Carolina. They leave behind a great youth group and echoes of their influence will be felt for decades(like every time someone turns on the stage lights at Table Rock). Wanted to help them move, but I have to preach that Sunday. I’m getting to do a lot of that at my new church which is really cool. Well, enjoy the pics and more to come later.
We found two wild animals on our way out!
