Okay this will be brief as I have a million and 1 things to do. Church gave us a great send off yesterday and Puseys had a great youth party for us last night. A great day and we got alot of cleaning done. Karen leaves tonight with her mom and I load the truck Thursday. I have so much to do the next two days it’s not even funny. Keep us in your prayers-can’t wait to update you all on our status and start blogging every day again. Peace, love, hope, and joy to all!

The Big Announcement
Well, after lots of prayer and seeking the Lord, we have accepted the Youth and Worship position at Denton Wesleyan Church in Denton, NC. We will be moving in a week or so in order to be a part of both NC East youth camps. Thanks for all your encouragement and prayers. I especially want to thank the people of Chi United who have been so supportive and encouraging during this whole process for our family. So I have a lot to be thankful for. Here’s a list of praises and requests…
1. Some people never get to work at a great loving church. Denton will be my third great loving church. Central First and Chi United are both great churches with people who loved and helped me to grow in my faith.
2. I have been able to work with great pastors-Fred Andrews, Tom Harding, Pete Wood, Mike McClung, and now Charlie Collins and Kelsey Hart.
3. We have lived in two great communities and are moving to a third great community.
4. I have worked with awesome teens and leaders in SC and Pennsylvania and look forward to working with great teens and leaders in Denton. From Nancy Zeigler, Bill Weeks, Dr. J, the Woods and the dozens of college interns in Central to Lynda Pusey, Kevin and Lisa Nodis, Charlie Kramp, Paul and Karen Taylor at Chichester, I have been surrounded by great adult leaders(even the ones I may have forgotten to mention by name). I also can’t say enough about the teens at each church. It is hard to leave such amazing kids.
5. Bottom line…I am blessed. My family is blessed.
Requests…
1. Pray for my mom as she watches our kids this week. Pray for her strength and for our kids to listen and mind her.
2. Pray for traveling safety for Karen and I as we drive and move to Denton next week.
3. Pray for Chi United as they search for a new assistant pastor and for Denton in the transitions there.
4. Pray especially for me as I finish preparations to speak at NC East Senior High camp. To quote Perry Noble,”God is rocking my face off right now!”
Much love to all my friends, neighbors and family. To be continued….
Random confessions
1. My kids are watching Charlotte’s Web. I have no idea what the movie or book is about. Am I the only over 30 person to make it through adolescence without reading or seeing it?
2. I tweaked my knee at Breakout and it’s bothering me a lot. Of course, it’s been carrying too much extra weight for 10 years.
3. I’ve had nightmares that woke me up the last two nights. The first time I dreamed there was a snake in the bed and I jumped out of bed. This isn’t the first time this has happened so Karen knew to just tell me it was a dream and that everything was okay. Of course, I was just standing there half asleep and hyperventilating. Last night, I dreamed that my kids and some others were riding on the backs of two crocodiles. Apparently this was safe, but then Drake fell off and was about to be eaten by a third one when I woke up in a cold sweat. Snakes and spiders have woke me up before, but that’s the first time a dream about my kids has. What do these dreams say about me?
4. I’m not scared of the dark. I’m scared of what could be lurking in the dark.
5. There is a conversation I have to have this weekend. I’ve never had a conversation like this before and I am a bit scared. It’s an important one and I trust God will be in it. It is a good conversation to have and I believe God will reveal his will through it.
6. Drake is up from his nap and getting into stuff so I’m off!
On the Road Wednesday
Well, after only going 120 miles in the first 4 hours we made it to Cherryville in 12 hours. 561 miles baby. It was this same weekend last year that we first visited Chi United. It has been a long strange journey of a year. It seems that a lot of churches are contacting us now and we hope that this weekend will be the one.
1. I am soooooooooo tired. Hopefully, a good nights sleep will help me get ready for Indiana Jones tomorrow night!
2. Perry Noble has been out at Saddleback church this week. Check out his blog to read some great stuff.
3. I am watching American Idol tonight for the first time. Ratings have dropped and it started with the 5 Mullikin’s. I’m hoping Paul let’s me watch Ultimate Fighter tonight.
4. I am now 35-32 as a Facebook wrestler. Yes, I am a geek. No, it hasn’t gotten old yet.
5. Why do I hear George Michael songs coming out of my in-laws living room?
6. Just a few days left until the Rhodes-Mullikin-Boyd reunion! No animals will be harmed in the making of this party.
7. Thoughts and prayers to Sen. Ted Kennedy. I may not agree with his politics, but we can agree to pray for a healthy recovery.
8. Matt LeRoy reads my blog and that mug even txted me! He’s one of the newest players added to the NC East team. His dad is gonna win DS of the year for his acquisitions!
9. Keep praying for NC East senior high camp. The messages are coming together and God is giving clear direction.
Time to watch some UFC!
Tuesday curveballs
Well, a few things didn’t work out like I had hoped they would. It doesn’t really affect me, but still a little disappointed for some friends. Anyway…
1. How bout Jon Lester pitching a no-hitter for the Red Sox last night? If only he had done it in Baltimore last Wednesday!
2. We leave in the morning for North Carolina. Pray for safe travel, clear direction(literally and spiritually), and for a good weekend interview.
3. Can’t wait to see some SC people on Sunday and Monday!
4. I’m sorry, but I still love watching wrestling.
5. Still waiting for some pastors to call me back…reminds me of the Seinfeld scene where Keith Hernandez hasn’t called him back and he says,”What , are there no phone where you live? Pick up a phone! That’s it, I’m done with these men.”
6. I still don’t believe the puppet story although Kris, Nate, and Bryan have confirmed it.
7. Had a dream that Clemson will start 0-2 in football this season. Folks, we ain’t never getting rid of Tommy Bowden. Here’s to another 8 or 9 win season with a disappointing bowl loss.
8. Performed the sad task of moving all my files and bookmarks off of the church laptop yesterday. Kinda had deja vu from last year. I’m just praying I did the Itunes library correctly. Luckily, I have an external hard drive and didn’t have to use 54 Cd’s.
9. Mom, if you’re reading this, can you work up some homemade mac and cheese for Monday? Or anything off a grill.
10. Not sure how often I will get to post the rest of the week so I want to express my thanks to all those who have served our country and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. They have a courage that I can only dream about having.
It’s a great day to be Monday!
Nothing helps get you through a long church conference like knowing there’s a baptism to follow. I had the privilege of helping Pastor Mike yesterday in a 58 degree pool. Two teens got baptized. It’s always an awesome sight to see. Better yet, it was at our house(well, the house of the people we are renting space from) so I could just walk to my door afterwards.
1. I am digging “God of this City” by Chris Tomlin. What an amazing song!
2. We leave Wednesday for a weekend interview in North Carolina. Then we’ll spend Memorial Day in South Carolina. The next few weeks are going to be very hectic because we are trying to line up a job and move in the span of about 3 weeks. Of course, God could change all of this. I just know that I’ll be at NC East Sr. high Camp on June 22nd as the speaker. Now, I’m trying to figure out if I’ll be there for Middle School camp on the 15th as a youth pastor. That means I would be in a cabin with the kids for the first time since 1997, but it also means that I will have my first opportunity to win a camp bucket! I tell you, that’s a great invention that other camps should steal like I did.
3. Speaking of speaking at Senior High camp, pray for me. God is challenging me to speak on a deeper level than camp normally goes. I believe He is calling me to open a can of worms that has been overlooked and neglected so that true healing can occur. I am pumped! It’s going to be incredible. I just want to get out of the way!
4. Saw Prince Caspian Friday night. I was entertained, but this is NOT a children’s movie. Pretty violent. It’s Braveheart without the blood and gore. A lot of the violence is insinuated, but it’s still there. I like both movies about the same. Def worth a look.
5. Indiana Jones opens this week! Now I’ve just got to figure out when I’m going to see it. Gotta see it before Friday. It depends on when we leave. So far, it’s gotten good reviews.
I have a lot of work to get to today. Be well my friends.
