Why I Haven't Been Blogging

It has been nearly 2 months since I have posted on Chase Your Lion.  Have I quit blogging?  Have I given up my dreams?  Did I catch or (gasp!) stop chasing my lion?

As most of you know, I became the Senior Pastor of Oakway Wesleyan Church back in August.  This has been a great, but challenging transition for us.  There is a HUGE difference between being a youth pastor and a senior pastor(that goes both ways BTW).  There is a weight and a burden that I had never experienced before.  In trying to move the church forward, reach our community, and spend quality time with my family I put blogging on the back burner for a bit.

When we moved to South Carolina, I became a regular co-host of the Techology Show, a weekly podcast featuring technology, theology, and everything in between.  I love working with Matt, Tony, and Steve and we’ve had the opportunity to talk to many great folks including “Heaven is for Real” author, Todd Burpo.  Being a part of the show is a lot of fun and God is opening some great doors for us.

Twitter is considered “micro-blogging” and I’ve been active on it with @ChaseurLion, @ChaseYourLion, and @HeathMullikin.  A lot of things I would say on the blog, I’ve been saying there.

And finally, I’m really trying to figure out where my place is in the blogging world.  I’ve talked to many people in the last few months who really want to blog, but don’t know where to start.  I think I can help with that through Chase Your Lion.  That’s were a lot of my focus is going to be moving forward.  I think when Daily Dose of Heath got hacked it threw me for a loop and it put me in a blogging funk.

The question I have to answer for myself is, “Can I be an effective pastor, blogger, co-host, father, husband, son, brother, Christian all at once?”  I think the answer is ,”Yes, I’m Heath.  That’s who God created me to be.”

So, I will return shortly with great passion and enthusiasm to help you Chase Your Lion and be who God created you to be as well.
